Advanced Energy (Nasdaq: AEIS) announced the launch of a new ultra-compact 48V input DC/DC power converter. The AVD200-48S12 comes in an industry-standard footprint yet delivers double the output power, making it especially well suited to equipment such as 5G digital communications, Power over Ethernet, and optical networking, and an ideal power conversion module for telecom and datacom applications. Beyond its compact package, the AVD200-48S12 offers extremely high power density with lower power conversion losses, improving operating efficiency and reducing overall system cost while freeing up printed circuit board space for other essential components. This enterprise-grade isolated sixteenth-brick DC/DC converter is rated at 200 W and accepts an input voltage of 36 to 75 VDC; it shares the same footprint as the 120 W Artesyn AVD120 but delivers nearly double the output power. With a rated efficiency above 94.2%, it converts 48V input power to a regulated 12V output, is available in open-frame and baseplate configurations, and offers a choice of through-hole or surface-mount versions.
